Hello, my name is Rehana Husain. I am a provisional psychologist who is excited to work at IPS because I deeply care about people and the collective wellbeing of communities. My values align closely with Indigenous ways of knowing, healing, and connection, particularly the importance of seeing a person as more than their symptoms, and recognizing the impact of culture, land, history, and community on mental health.
My philosophy is that mental health and wellness are holistic — involving the mind, body, emotions, spirit, relationships, and environment. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel seen, respected, and understood. Mental wellness is not about “fixing” someone, but about fostering self-understanding, inner strength, balance, and connection. I work from a trauma-informed and culturally respectful perspective, recognizing the impact of lived experience, intergenerational trauma, and systemic factors on wellbeing.
I believe therapy works best when it is personalized rather than prescriptive. I tailor my work to each client’s strengths, values, cultural identity, and lived experiences, with the goal of walking alongside them—not ahead of them—through their healing journey.
I have formal training in Brainspotting Phase 1 and therapeutic intervention. My education has provided me with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and ethical practice. I continue to engage in ongoing learning, supervision, and professional development to ensure that my work remains thoughtful, culturally responsive, and aligned with best practices in mental health care.
