My Story

I provide a warm, caring, and receptive space where I can support you to feel and think in ways that are more helpful. I try to work with my clients in a collaborative way, attuned to your needs, so that you feel heard, understood, and respected. For me, this is fundamental to developing trust, which is essential for you to heal and grow.

I have worked as a Counselling Psychologist for 10 years. My areas of expertise include mild to severe anxiety, depression, grief and loss, interpersonal issues (including relationship struggles), complex trauma, bipolar, schizophrenia, and personality disorders—as well as issues related to physical health and learning difficulties. I have experience working abroad with diverse populations and have had the privilege of working with indigenous people extensively. I’ve practiced in the community, in hospitals, and in prisons.

I am originally from BC, and I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology in Canada and then I studied abroad due to my strong interest in other cultures and perspectives. Although it was challenging at times being away from home, it was a privilege to learn about other values and traditions which has strengthened my ability to be open-minded and receptive.

I underwent therapy myself as part of my postgraduate training. The experience of therapy is different for everybody, but for me, personally, I admit I found it uncomfortable to expose my vulnerabilities to the therapist. However, the process helped me to grow and to become more genuinely empathic and brave. It also helped me become more resilient when working with other people’s pain and distress. Using a compassionate and client-led approach, I look forward to working together.

Training:
My formal training includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Counselling at the doctorate level, and accredited training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed approaches.
