My Story

Angel meets clients from where they’re at. She strives to understand, guide, and challenge clients towards their healing journey. Angel uses EMDR, as well as cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, and acceptance and commitment therapies. She incorporates sand tray and play based therapies when working with younger children.

As a person of colour who immigrated to Canada as a child, Angel knows the complexity of adjusting to, and living in, a multicultural setting in which curiosity and willingness are needed as we continue to learn about ourselves, our own culture, and other cultures. She is thankful for the work and volunteer opportunities she had with the YWCA, Centre for Autism, McMan, McDougall House, and Hope Mission during her undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology. Angel reflects in her previous roles of supporting children, youth, women, men, and families from vulnerable populations. It was in these 7 years that Angel recognized the consequences of discrimination and abuse.

Angel works with children as young as 4-years-old, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. She works with individuals who struggle with trauma and complex trauma, dissociation, abuse, depression, anxiety, stress and burn out, self-esteem, body image, boundaries, family dynamics, grief and loss, identity and cultural identity, and ADHD.

Angel  believes in the importance of providing space in which clients feel heard as they share their narratives and recognize their own strengths. Angel likes to emphasize that despite painful lived experiences and current stressors, each individual has the ability to choose a healthier path towards healing and growth, and providing a secure counselling environment is a key factor to helping clients recognize this ability.
