School Wellness
Clinical and Cultural Wellness
School-Based Clinical & Cultural Wellness Services
We provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded mental health services within school settings. Our programming is interconnected with community-building, Elder engagement, and the integration of Two-Eyed Seeing—bridging Indigenous knowledge systems with evidence-based clinical practices.
Our approach supports the whole student: emotional, relational, cultural, and academic and holistic well-being.
Direct Student Counselling
We offer individual counselling for students experiencing:

- Trauma exposure and intergenerational trauma
- Peer conflict and bullying
- School avoidance
- Family transitions
Services are developmentally responsive and coordinated with school teams while maintaining clinical confidentiality standards.

Our group-based programming integrates clinical skill-building with cultural connection and creative expression. These groups promote belonging, identity development, and resilience.
Examples include
- Emotional regulation and coping skills groups
- Social skills development
- Anxiety and resilience groups
- Youth empowerment and leadership circles
- Grief and healing groups
- Staff support circles
- Cultural & Land-Based Programming
Where appropriate and guided by community protocols, we facilitate:
- Beading groups (mindfulness, identity, and intergenerational knowledge sharing)
- Rock painting and creative arts groups
- Land-based healing activities
- Land-based art therapy programming
- Cultural skill-building workshops
- Seasonal and ceremony-aligned wellness activities
These offerings are delivered in collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural advisors when available. Cultural activities are approached with respect for local traditions and governance.
Two-Eyed Seeing Framework
Our school-based services are grounded in the principle of Two-Eyed Seeing—honouring the strengths of Indigenous ways of knowing alongside Western clinical approaches.
This means:
- Integrating cultural teachings with psychological skill-building
- Recognizing identity, language, and land as protective factors
- Bridging traditional healing practices with trauma-informed care
- Supporting both individual wellness and collective community healing
- Community & Elder Collaboration
Our programming is interconnected with broader community wellness initiatives. We:
- Collaborate with Elders and cultural leaders
- Align school programming with community priorities
- Support intergenerational engagement
- Create opportunities for cultural continuity within educational spaces
By strengthening cultural identity and connection within the school environment, we contribute to long-term student resilience and community well-being.
Staff & School Capacity Building
We also provide:
- Staff counselling
- Trauma-informed practice training
- Vicarious trauma and staff wellness workshops
- Cultural safety and humility education
- Classroom consultation and case collaboration
- Support following critical incidents
Our goal is to build sustainable, culturally safe systems within the school.
Child & Family Wellness Services – Nation-Based Programming
We provide culturally grounded, trauma-informed child and family services in partnership with Nations and community leadership. Our approach supports family preservation, reunification, and long-term healing by integrating clinical best practices with traditional knowledge and community-led values.
All services are delivered on-site within the Nation and are guided by cultural safety, community protocols, and collaborative planning.
