Couples Therapy

Indigenous-informed therapy to help partners improve their relationship by working through challenges, strengthening communication, and deepening understanding.

Couple counselling is a type of therapy that helps partners improve their relationship by working through challenges, strengthening communication, and deepening understanding. It is for couples at any stage—whether dating, engaged, married, or in long-term partnerships—who want to address conflicts, navigate life changes, or simply enhance their connection. Through guided conversations in a safe, supportive environment, couple counselling helps partners build trust, resolve issues, and foster a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.

Couples Counselling at IPS

Our couples counselling is Indigenous-informed, honouring traditional values and the importance of relationships within family and community. We recognize the impact of intergenerational trauma and create a safe, compassionate space for couples to share, heal, and grow together. By integrating Indigenous wisdom with therapeutic practices, we support couples in understanding each other, strengthening their connection, and fostering resilience. Our approach respects each partner’s lived experience and cultural background, guiding couples toward healing and harmony.

When receiving couples counselling, partners can expect a safe and non-judgmental space to talk openly about their concerns and experiences. A trained therapist will guide conversations, helping both people communicate more effectively, understand each other’s perspectives, and explore solutions to challenges. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable, and sessions move at a pace that works for both partners. The focus is on building trust, strengthening your connection, and supporting the relationship in a way that respects each person’s needs and values.
