Family Healing Circle

A Family Healing Circle, also known as a Sharing Circle, is a traditional Indigenous practice that brings families together in a safe and respectful space to share, listen, and support one another. Guided by an Elder or facilitator, each person’s voice is valued as stories, feelings, and experiences are shared in turn. This holistic approach fosters understanding, connection, and healing within the family, honoring Indigenous values of community, respect, and togetherness.

Family Therapy at IPS

When a new client attends one of our groups, they will experience a gentle, supportive circle approach. We sit together in a circle, creating a safe space to support one another. Each person is welcome to engage at the level they feel comfortable—there is no pressure to share personal experiences or push beyond what feels right. Our focus is always on respecting each individual’s readiness, allowing participation to unfold naturally and at their own pace.

When a new family receives family therapy, they can expect a welcoming and respectful space where each member’s voice is valued. Our approach is culturally appropriate and Indigenous-focused, honoring family traditions, histories, and strengths. We work together to understand each family’s unique story and support healthy communication, connection, and healing.

Families are encouraged to participate at their own pace, with no pressure to share more than they feel comfortable. Our therapists integrate Indigenous perspectives and practices, creating a safe environment where families can strengthen relationships and find pathways to wellness that reflect their values and culture.
